Toyota is dusting off a familiar nameplate as it expands its EV lineup. The C-HR is officially back, baby, and now we know how much it costs.
The 2026 C-HR is essentially Toyota’s version of the Subaru Uncharted, which is essentially a “sportier” and swoopy-roofed version of the also-updated-for-2026 Toyota bZ and Subaru Solterra. And in case you forgot yesterday’s news, there’s a wagon version called the bZ Woodland, and Subaru’s version is the Trailseeker.
Now that we’re all caught up, the 2026 C-HR kicks things off with the base SE trim at $44,900. That’s a hefty $15,000 increase over the last one, but to Toyota’s credit, the difference between the new C-HR and its predecessor is night and day.
For that hair-under-$45,000 price point, you get a single-motor, front-wheel-drive layout with 221 horsepower and a 496-km range estimate. Toyota offers a smaller 54.5 kWh battery pack with the front-drive bZ, but all C-HRs use the upgraded 74.7 kWh unit, even FWD models.

From there, the main differences come down to the bells and whistles. The SE is well-stocked with a power liftgate, a heated steering wheel, Toyota’s full suite of active safety and driving assists, wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 14-inch touchscreen paired with a digital instrument cluster and the dual-wireless-charger/centre console layout from upper-trim the bZ.
All-wheel-drive requires stepping up to the C-HR XSE for $49,950. The addition of the second electric motor out back cuts range down to 452 km, but power gets a big bump to 338 hp. You also get two power-adjustable seats up front with leatherette-and-suede inserts and memory on the driver’s side — on the SE, only the driver’s chair is power-adjustable — plus a digital rear-view mirror and more driver assists.

The XSE Premium caps off the 2026 C-HR lineup. For a pricey $54,400, you get a fixed glass roof, heated rear seats, a nine-speaker JBL sound system, headlight washers, and 20-inch wheels that look stylish, but reduce range to 438 km.
The updated C-HR hits Toyota dealers in about a month. When it does, it’ll be cheapest of the bZ-based siblings, undercutting the base bZ by about $1,000.
