No, we’re not talking about a video game. Subaru is expanding its EV lineup with the all-new 2026 Uncharted, yet again putting their own spin on a Toyota product you may or may not have seen before.
It’s also the first front-wheel-drive Subaru to be sold in Canada in literal decades, but let’s not dwell on that too much.
The 2026 Uncharted is essentially a Subaru-badged version of the all-new Toyota CH-R, which unsurprisingly also goes all-electric for 2026. They both draw heavily from the also-updated Subaru Solterra and Toyota bZ; in the case of the Uncharted, it’s pitched as a sportier alternative to the Solterra.
The biggest giveaway to this perceived sporting intent is the Uncharted’s styling. It ditches the Solterra’s blocky side profile for a fastback silhouette, It wears a different front end, too, and is it just us, or does the lightbar out back, spelled-out S-U-B-A-R-U badging, black bits contrasting against the loud orange paint give off Cayenne GTS vibes?
Inside, Subaru says the 2026 Uncharted is about as roomy as a Crosstrek, which is to say, pretty decent. Up front, it’s identical to the Solterra right down to awkward shifter, and the 14-inch touchscreen that’s an upgrade on the Solterra is standard on the Uncharted. In fact, the GT trim pictured here gets all the good stuff: two-tone paint, 20-inch wheels, some nice colour-keyed interior biits, heated rear seats, and the big battery.
That big battery is the same 77 kWh lithium-ion unit as the Solterra, putting out 338 horsepower and clocking a zero-to-100 km’h run in under five seconds. Range is estimated at a healthy 460 kilometres on a single charge, If that’s somehow too hot to handle, Subaru will offer a couple of front-wheel-drive variants with 221 hp and up to 480 km of range for less money, too.
Canadian pricing hasn’t been announced, but expect to see the 2026 Subaru Uncharted in dealers, alongside the new Solterra and Trailseeker, early next year.
