For 2018, Toyota’s most successful mid-size sedan is returning on a whole new platform. The 2018 Toyota Camry boasts a fresh design, a new engine and a revamped powertrain that will make it a worthy competitor in the midsize sedan market.
The exterior, like the rest of the vehicle, is completely new and features styling cues reminiscent of the brand’s luxury division. A two-piece spindle grille, sharp angles and sleek roofline give the Camry a more aggressive appearance. A number of alterations to the exterior exist depending on the model chosen. For instance, the sport trim (SE and XSE) models feature sculpted rocker panels, larger wheels, more aggressive body appointments and distinct smoked taillights; while the hybrid features blue tinted badges, amongst other things.
Inside the all-new interior, futuristic styling combined with functional features improve the rider experience. A driver-focused cabin is created by angling gauges toward the driver and making controls in the center stack easily reachable and operable. This arrangement also provides the passengers with a sense of openness. Elevating the occupant experience, a mixture of materials in the cabin create a sense of luxury and refinement. Quite possibly the pinnacle of the interior is the updated Toyota Human Machine Interface that uses three interlinked screens to display information relevant to the driver and passengers. Toyota’s Entune 3.0 serves as the latest technology suite and connectivity center in the cabin.
Three new engine options are available under the hood. A new 3.5-liter V6 with fuel injection, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder and next generation Toyota Hybrid System come paired to an 8-speed automatic and CVT, respectively. A notable feature of the new hybrid system is its ability to achieve best-in-class fuel economy with Prius-like economy figures. In addition to the brand-new platform, a double wishbone rear suspension and four-point engine mounting system improve the driving dynamics and ride comfort in the new generation by creating responsive handling and reducing road-cabin disturbance. Safety maintains a top-priority and the Camry comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense which is a suite of advanced safety features to protect the driver, passengers and everyone outside the vehicle.
