While the Nissan Qashqai is a popular choice in the international market, North America has been left out of the loop until now. The 2017 Nissan Qashqai debuts at the North American International Auto Show as its entrance into the North American market.
Positioned in the lineup as a smaller rogue due to its shortened dimensions, the Qashqai aims to be the ideal CUV for the city. Three trimlines- S, SV and SL- are available, each offering its own set of equipment and features. A nimble 2.0L, 4 Cylinder comes packed under the hood producing a fuel efficient 141HP and 147lb-ft of torque. The engine can be paired to the choice of a 6-speed manual transmission, or an optional Xtronic transmission that features a sport and eco-mode.
Nimble handling helps the Qashqai navigate the city with ease. Nimbleness is the result of 4-wheel independant suspension and multi-link independant rear suspension components. The Electric Power-assisted Steering also features a sport mode that makes it more direct and responsive. The Qashqai comes standard with the basics such front-wheel drive, ABS and Electronic Brake force Distribution, while All-Wheel drive remains optional. Notable standard features include a Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Hill Start Assist, Active trace control, Active Engine Braking and Active Ride Control; each one adding to the dynamics of the Qashqai. A number of optional safety and driver assistance features are available including Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Forward Emergency Braking, Intelligent Cruise Control and a whole suite of others.
The Nissan Qashqai offers unique styling, affordability and practicality all in a city ready package. It will be on sale in spring of 2017 under the name of Qashqai in Canada and Rogue Sport in the USA.
