The new Lexus LS 500 makes its debut in the city where it originally launched in 1989. Sitting on a new platform, with a new engine power plant, and loaded with new state-of-the-art features, this generation of the LS is dressed to impress.

Lexus’ big body sedan sits on a whole new platform (GA-L) that creates a more driver-oriented, performance feel. It is rear-wheel drive based, similar to the new LC 500 coupe, and has a longer, lower and wider stance than its predecessor. With this, the new LS embodies the luxury of space and comfort while creating a sense of performance and sportiness. Lexus claims that the platform is the stiffest ever which could provide more sporty handling at the cost of comfort. To mitigate this dilemma however, a Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management and Lexus Dynamic Handling system monitors braking, steering, powertrain, and suspension to control the ride handling. 

While the new LS sacrifices a V8, its new twin-turbo V6 paired to a 10 speed automatic transmission aims to produce V8 power and refinement without sacrificing fuel economy. Producing 415HP and 442 lb-ft of torque, this large sedan can go 0-100km/h in a respectable 4.5 seconds assisted by the instant acceleration of the 10 speed. Power and driving dynamics can be managed by a drive select system, allowing the driver to tailor their preferences for performance and comfort.

The design of the Lexus LS takes a sleek and stylish form, similar to a four door coupe, in order to appeal to a younger audience. The new platform allows for a lower profile and in order to retain headroom, an outer slide moonroof is standard. Depending on the chosen trim level, five wheel designs are available in 19 and 20 inch variants. The iconic spindle grille remains, centered by brand new headlight designs. Most importantly, in a large sedan, is the interior. It features new seating designs with a multitude of functions, a fresh dash design plus information cluster and laser cut wood trim with a rear seat area that flows with the rest of the interior. An array of options, including Lexus’ first ever air suspension, are also available to further enhance the air of luxury and convenience. Technology is plentiful with connectivity and convenience options that include the worlds largest heads up display at 24 inches.
