Get your check books ready, there is little time to act—BMW has announced a limited 100 unit release of the 435i ZHP Coupe Edition. The exclusivity of this model is of great appeal for all those interested in the long term ownership. As we see with many bimmers of yesteryear, the value of these gems can make a full 360 with the right amount of time and a decent amount of care. For those who came for the handling and horsepower, the option of ticking off those upgrades on any 435i coupe may seem equally viable. Nonetheless, with some cosmetic embellishments, the BMW 435i ZHP coupe edition makes a tidy and appealing all inclusive package.
The M Performance Package II is the real star of the show here, bringing an additional 35 hp to the party. As well as an extra 32 lb-ft of torque for the automatic, and 17 lb-ft for the manual. The package achieves these power upgrades via a performance exhaust, air intake, and an overall tune. The driver’s interface also has some additional tuning, with a specially calibrated accelerator for quick and defined response. Featured parts on this BMW’s new Track Handling Package include: a performance limited-slip differential, sport brakes, variable sport steering, and adaptive M sport suspension.The total power output comes in at 335hp and 332 lb-ft of torque for the automatic and 317 lb-ft for the manual; the result of which is a healthy 5.5 second 0-60mph time—0.2seconds faster than the base coupe. Moreover, BMW claims that the ZHP is actually 0.5 seconds quicker in the 50-75mph range.
The myriad of M badges in the usual places serve to remind you of its elitism without shouting it in your face—because let’s be realistic here, what good is a special edition if no one can identify it as such? Decals generally should be saved for track cars, but the subtle one on the rocker panel adds a classy touch. The 435i ZHP coupe sits comfortably on 18 inch sport wheels and has brushed aluminum exhaust tips. However, its uniqueness in appearance relies heavily on the M Performance Aerodynamics package that includes front and rear carbon fiber spoilers, M performance grilles, and a black rear diffuser. Colours are limited to Alpine white and black sapphire metallic, but the small selection shouldn’t be much of deterrent when uniqueness is what you came for.
In veneration to the ZHP performance package of the mid 2000’s 3-series, a 435i ZHP Coupe Edition should be around by July this year. Boasting some of the latest M Performance tech, while being adequately adorned for the 1 in a hundred vehicle it will be.
