Almost two weeks before the Los Angeles Auto Show, Volvo has announced that they are bringing a Cross Country V60 crossover that is definitely more off-road oriented. The Swedish automaker has also confirmed that the model will be available to arrive on North American markets shortly.
Among the already amazing 7 car lineup that Volvo has to offer, they have decided it is time to take Volvo’s amazing V60 compact wagon and add some off-road capability through the added 2.6-inch rise in suspension height, and rugged skid plates that cover the front and rear. As an added touch the exhaust outlets are integrated into the rear bumper and the addition of side scuff plates and fender extensions will ensure that you can conquer any terrain that you may come across. With the added visual treats, Volvo has not neglected the powertrain. US and Canadian models will boats a 250-horsepower, five-cylinder engine with a standard automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Volvo expects to the V60 Cross Country to get around 10.2 l/100km of average fuel economy with combined highway and city driving. Seriously not bad for a vehicle of this size.
Inside, expect nothing less but comfort from Volvo. Sport seats covered in a black leather with brown stitching will be available. Every single time I have sat in a newer Volvo, I have always felt as though I could actually move in, fall asleep, and call it my new home. They are the most comfortable car seats I have ever sat in. I do not expect anything less out of this V60 Cross Country.
According to Volvo spokesperson Laura Venezia speaking to Autoblog, the North American launch is planned for sometime in the first quarter of 2015. Here at DoubleClutch, awaiting the arrival of the V60 Cross Country means Spring cannot come soon enough.
