BMW is celebrating 40 years of M cars in Canada with a new, limited edition package for the M4.
The 2027 BMW M4 Coupe M Legacy Edition, as it’s officially known, follows a similar path as the M440i Gran Coupe and 540i Legacy Edition models. It’s a two-for-one present, marking the 40th anniversary of the original M3 coupe, and also the M division’s sales success in Canada. Hell, last year, Canada was the second biggest market globally for BMW M sales.

As such, the M4 Coupe M Legacy Edition will be limited to 40 examples and it’s just for Canada. The special edition trimmings start with the paint, where you can spec one of three throwback shades — Laguna Seca Blue, Velvet Blue Metallic, or Imola Red II — through BMW’s Individual program. Keen eyes will note those colours are the stripes on the BMW M badge. Neat!
Speaking of stripes, BMW boosts the M4 Legacy Edition’s curb appeal with a unique set of M-branded graphics that are actually painted on, rather than going the simpler-and-cheaper vinyl route. You also get the gold 826M wheels from the CS cars, an Alcantara steering wheel, and niceties that are optional on the lesser cars, like a Nappa leather dash, carbon fibre trim, the M Driver’s pack, and the supportive-once-you’re-in-them M Carbon Bucket seats.

Underneath it all, the M4 Legacy Edition doesn’t receive any performance upgrades, but BMW still gives you a choice between 473 horsepower, rear-wheel-drive, and a manual transmission, or the Competition trimmings and its 523 horses, all-wheel-drive, and two pedals.
The 2027 M4 M Legacy Edition starts at $115,500 with the stick, and $124,500 for the auto-only Competition cars. Production begins this June, and deliveries will follow later in summer.
