Kia is getting into the cargo van game with the all-electric 2027 PV5. Yes, really.
It wasn’t long ago that automakers were hopping onto the small cargo van bandwagon, but these right-sized options have all but died off. Now, Kia is taking a shot at reviving the segment with something a little different.

The PV5 is underpinned by the same modular platform as the EV6, EV9, and countless other models across the Hyundai/Kia/Genesis portfolio. Its single-motor, front-wheel-drive configuration is good for 161 horsepower, and Kia estimates 416 kilometres’ worth of range from its 71.2 kWh battery pack.
Here’s the neat part. Because of the skateboard-like nature of the platform — pretty much the whole floor is the battery — the PV5 has a low floor, so filling up the back with tools, flowers, or Amazon packages is a cinch. Size-wise, the PV5 slots between the Transit Connect and the Mercedes-Benz Metris, but offers about 5,000 litres of cargo space.

Kia also baked in a few neat tricks with the PV5 cargo van. The front passenger seat is removable, the rest of the interior is stain-resistant, it comes standard with multiple tie-downs and mounting, it’ll power your tools, and overseas, an optional modular interior that lets you add additional seats just in case you need the work van for a family road trip.
Kia says the 2027 PV5 cargo van will hit Canadian dealers by the end of 2026. A dedicated passenger version is rumoured, but not confirmed just yet.
