Happy Friday! Welcome to this week’s edition of the Official DoubleClutch.ca News Rundown, where we recap the top automotive headlines from the week that was in one convenient package. Let’s go.

The Audi RS 5 is now a heavy PHEV with 630 HP

Remember the sheer outrage over the new M5’s weight when it debuted? Of course you do. Now you can direct your ire to the 2027 Audi RS 5 Sedan and Avant.

We’re upset, too, but for a different reason. It’s not the powertrain. The 2027 RS 5 keeps the 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6, but it now puts out 503 hp on its own. It’s also now paired to an electric motor and a 22 kWh battery pack, cranking the collective wick up to 630 hp and 608 pound-feet of torque. Audi says it does 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, and about 80 km of electric-only range.

Like the M5, that results in a pretty hefty weight gain. The 2027 RS 5 is roughly a thousand pounds heavier than before across the board; the sedan tips the scales at 5,192 pounds, and the wagon at 5,225 pounds. We’re not upset at that; the M5 still feels like a missile, so the new RS 5 still probably does despite the extra poundage. We’re not even upset at the interior; it goes heavy with the screens like everything else Audi is redesigning, but gets the appropriately badass Audi RS dress-up.

Alas, we’re upset that the RS 5 Avant will not be sold in the U.S. and Canada. We’re also bummed the coupe is no more; when the 2027 RS 5 hits dealers later this summer, we’re only getting the Sedan. Womp womp.

Speaking of wagons, what’s Polestar cooking up?!

Polestar teaser

Polestar seems to be hard at work, promising four new models over the next three years — including what seems to be a wagon. Gasp.

Mark your calendars: Polestar says deliveries for the Polestar 5 will begin this summer. In case you forgot, that’s their four-door gran-tourer which debuted last year. Following that, Polestar says it’ll launch “a new variant” of the Polestar 4 with “more versatility.” In their teaser, we can make out roof rails, a more upright hatch, and a literal rear window, no doubt pointing to a wagon. Polestar hasn’t said when it’ll launch, but deliveries will begin in the “fourth quarter of 2026.”

Following that, Polestar says “a completely new successor” to the Polestar 2 is coming early 2027, then the Polestar 7 compact crossover in 2028. next-generation Polestar 2 is coming early 2027.

Polestar, we know you can’t explicitly comment on future product plans, but you had us at Polestar 4 wagon.

And the rest

Audi Concept C

With the important stuff out of the way, here’s the rest: Toyota announced pricing for the 2026 C-HR and bZ Woodland EVs. The C-HR will start at $44,900, and the bZ Woodland is a tick under $60,000. It’s worth noting that Subaru’s versions, the Uncharted and Trailseeker, are nearly identical and cost less. And finally, Audi made headlines by doubled down on its eventual TT successor, which shares a platform with Porsche’s upcoming Boxster and Cayman EVs. But where Porsche isn’t exactly having a great time, to the point where they might kill the EVs even after all this, Audi committed to a 2027 launch.

Also, gosh, isn’t the Concept C pretty
