Former Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares upset a lot of people—both within and outside the company—upon pulling the plug on the Hemi a few years ago. But with Tavares’ tumultuous tenure having come to a close, Ram just confirmed the Hemi is back for 2026. Heck yeah.
The newly revived 5.7-litre V8 slots between the standard- and high-output variants of the Hurricane twin-turbocharged inline-six. It retains the 48-volt mild hybrid assist, rated at 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. Along with the telltale V8 rumble—now made louder for 2026, as the previously optional sport exhaust is now standard—all Hemi-powered Rams wear unique fender badges denoting what they’re packing under the hood.
Order books for the Hemi-powered Ram 1500 are already open. It’s available pretty much across the lineup, from the base Tradesman up to the nearly range-topping Longhorn; it’s coming to the Ram Rebel, but Stellantis hasn’t specified an exact timeline. In the U.S., stepping up to the Hemi is a no-cost option on the Limited and Longhorn; it’s a $1,200 upcharge on all other trims. Stellantis hasn’t specified whether they’ll charge for the extra cylinders in Canada.
For now, the range-topping Ram RHO and Tungsten remain Hurricane-only. In this post-Tavares chapter for Stellantis, anything is seemingly possible, and we’re here for it.
