2019 is looking to be the year most manufacturers update their trucks. Just released, the 2019 RAM 1500 gets a whole new update featuring more technology, efficiency and capability.
An all-new fascia features a fresh new grille, updated LED Adaptive headlights, fog lights and tail lights. These features vary slightly across six different models which introduce slight variation to the exterior appointments. The design also helps improve the aerodynamic efficiency. Dimensions of the new RAM 1500 are slightly longer and wider than previous generations which improves interior room and cargo capacity. Inside, a 12-inch touch screen makes an appearance in the centre console. Through this touchscreen, multiple functions can be configured and controlled in Uconnect with the ability to also use Apple Car Play/Android Auto.
Under the hood is either a 3.6L Pentastar V6 or a 5.7L HEMI V8, both with eTorque. eTorque is a new, mild hybrid system that uses a 48-volt motor to provide up to 90lb.-ft and 130 lb.-ft. of launch torque for the V6 and V8 motors, respectively. To help increase efficiency and reduce cabin noise, Fuel Saving Technology cylinder deactivation is available on the V8-equipped RAMs. Alongside this, a 225 pound lighter body weight and an optional air suspension helps reduce fuel consumption amongst other benefits. Both motor options are available with a TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission.
Alongside the above changes, new safety and security features come available on the RAM 1500. These include the standard suite of driving assistance such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Trailer-sway Damping Control and Frequency Response Damping shocks. Maximum payload for the RAM 1500 has increased to 2,300 pounds with towing capacity increased to 12,750 pounds.
Overall, the new RAM comes packed with a load of features to make transporting cargo easier and more enjoyable.
