Chevrolet unveiled its newest addition to the Corvette line-up a couple weeks ago. The 2019 Corvette ZR1 Coupe was launched as the pinnacle of performance for the brand. Today at the L.A. Auto Show, Chevy also pulled the covers off its 2019 Corvette ZR1 Convertible – a topless complement the Coupe.
The convertible carries over the same performance attributes as the newly released coupe. Under the hood lies the LT5 motor featuring a supercharged 6.2L V8, with a larger supercharger than that found in the Z06. The metrics speak for themselves with the engine producing 755 hp and 715 lb-ft. of torque, and 0-100km/h happening in around 3 seconds. Thankfully, the manuals are not dead! Chevy has given the option to pair the monstrous engine to either a 7-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic.
From the outside, a ZR1 can be identified by its updated front fascia with larger air inlets. If one opts for the USD $3,000 ZTK Performance Package, not only do they receive an exterior appointed with a carbon-fiber front splitter and rear “high wing”, but also Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and Magnetic Ride Control. New for the ZR1 is an upgraded bi-modal exhaust system which features four sound modes: stealth, tour, sport and track. All of these additions make it the perfect track weapon or weekend car.
The ZR1 is expected to cost around USD $120,000 with the convertible costing USD $124,000.
