For 2018, the Porsche 911 GT3 will come packing more power, a new chassis, and most importantly, a manual transmission.
At the pinnacle of the 2018 GT3 is a naturally aspirated 4.0 Liter flat-six that produces 500HP and close to 340lb.-ft of torque. Helping put down this power is a lightweight body and chassis that creates a power-to-weight ratio of 6.4 pounds per horsepower. These factors, combined with the iconic PDK, launch the GT3 to 100km/h in 3.4 seconds; all the way up to a top speed of close to 320km/h. Opting for the pure driving experience offered by the manual transmission, changes performance figures slightly. 100km/h is reached in a slightly slower 3.9 seconds while the top speed remains the same.
Improving the dynamic handling of the GT3 are an upgraded differential, dynamic engine mounts and improved Rear Axle steering. Carbon fiber is used throughout the vehicle, including on the rear wing and interior, which cuts down the vehicle weight and adds rigidity. Aerodynamics are improved through a redesigned front and rear fascia as well as a new rear diffusor.
New appointments to the interior include a GT Sport steering sourced from the 918 Spyder, Sport Seats Plus featuring larger bolsters and new electrical adjustments, and the removal of rear seats decreasing weight. Standard in the PCM infotainment system is now a Porsche Track Precision App which monitors track performance of the vehicle in real-time, with data uploaded to a smartphone.
The 2018 911 GT3 will reach U.S. dealers in the fall, at a base price of $163,300.
