Range Rover has just announced its latest edition to its prestigious lineup of capable vehicles. The Velar is a midsize luxury SUV that slots in between the Range Rover Sport and Range Rover Evoque.Range1

The Velar is available in a number of trim lines that vary in price and powertrain options. The Velar will feature three powertrains including a 2.0 liter, 180 HP 4-cylinder; a 247 HP, 2.0 Liter 4-cylinder and a supercharged V6, outputting 380 HP with the ability to hit 100km/h in around 5.3 seconds. These engines will be paired to an 8-speed ZF transmission and come standard with all-wheel drive. If you are hoping to do some offroading, the option for locking differentials and four wheel air suspension is available only on the six cylinder variants.  The Velar rides on a 113.15 inch wheel base and uses Adaptive Dynamics damping technology to increase ride comfort and handling.Range3

The design is modern, striking and streamlined. It takes cues from its siblings with similar aspects mirroring the Evoque and Sport. Distinct LED headlights and taillights are sculpted into the new dimensions of the Velar and remind onlookers that it is a Range Rover. Retracting door handles keep the design sleek and help reduce the overall drag coefficient, which makes this the most aerodynamic Range Rover ever produced. Inside, the Velar adopts Range Rover’s top of the line interior appointments, and includes a new suite of technology. The Land Rover InControl infotainment system features two 10-inch touchscreens through which users can control almost all functions of the vehicle. Upon launch, a First Edition model will be available for those interested in exclusivity and top-of-the-line amenities and appointments.Range4

A driving technology suite will also be available that will include advanced driving assistance options such as Driver Condition Monitoring and offroading technologies such as All Terrain Progress Control.

Pricing will range from around $62,000 CAD for the Range Rover Velar and a spike up to $95,000 CAD for the Velar First Edition.
