The Hyundai Accent enters its 5th generation, boasting a new design and improved features inside and out. For 2018, sedan and hatch variants will be available, with the 4-door being released first.

A redesigned exterior adopts Hyundai’s new design language. This includes the modern cascading grille, new LED headlights and tail lights, and a new body shape. According to Hyundai, the body is 15mm longer and 29mm wider than last generation increasing the interior room by 16L. Inside, the controls and technology features have also been updated to be more
modern.

With revisions made to the steering and suspension, the 2018 Accent will ride and handle better. The steering utilizes a Motor-Driven Power Steering that adjusts to changing driving conditions to increase feel and response. Under the hood of this generation lies a 1.6-liter four cylinder that produces 132 HP and 119 lb.-ft. of torque. Paired with this motor is choice of a six-speed manual transmission or six-speed automatic, which have been improved to reduce fuel consumption.

Safety has remained a priority in the Accent with a new SuperStructure chassis that improves rigidity and collision protection. Newly added technology to the Accent line includes Autonomous Emergency Braking and proximity key, push start. The infotainment system is also updated with a 7-inch display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for added connectivity.

The sedan is expected to arrive by the end of 2017, followed by the hatchback in early 2018.
