The Jaguar F-Type SVR made its North American debut today at this year’s New York Auto Show.

This F-Type isn’t the first production vehicle to have the “SVR” badge, as the Range Rover SVR also sported it. “SVR” stands for “Special Vehicles Racing”, which means it has been given a once-over by those working at Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) wing.

Available as a coupe or convertible, the 2017 F-Type SVR boasts new dampers, anti-roll bars, 20-inch forged wheels and stiffer rear knuckles. It also features larger air intakes in the front bumper, redesigned bonnet vents and some optional carbon fibre bits here and there. That and, hey, that body is just downright gorgeous from every angle.

While the 2017 F-Type still has the same 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine as its predecessor, it does feature a new titanium and Inconel exhaust system which not only saves 16 kg, but it also sounds even more badass. In total, the F-type SVR has lost a total of 25kg compared to the F-Type R AWD. The V8 engine is paired to an 8-speed Quickshift transmission and has an output of approximately 567 horsepower with 516 lbs.-ft of torque. The coupe tops out at 200 mph and the convertible at 195mph.

Inside, the F-Type SVR features a jet black leather interior with stitching available in four different colours. The instrument cluster and centre console is graced with a suede cloth covering, but those who opt in for the Siena Tan or Red leather interiors will receive a leather-wrapped instrument panel as well. This vehicle also features an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen promising to deliver intuitive user interfaces and crisp, crystal-clear map displays.

The Jaguar F-Type SVR will go on sale this summer.
