Searching through endless lists of vehicles, trying to find the perfect one for you can be a strenuous, worrisome experience. Between wanting to keep your personal information under wraps and trying to get the best price for that vehicle, today’s online car shopping experience just doesn’t cut it.

Founded by the same team that made eDealer.ca and CanadianBlackBook.com, in comes Carmigo.com to the rescue. Its solution? Carmigo offers a completely online shopping experience with communication done solely over your computer or smartphone in the comfort of your home, the workplace or wherever you may be. If you have an internet connection, you can use Carmigo.  Your personal information is not shared until you are comfortable to use your own e-mail address and/or phone number to move to the next step.

This innovative website connects car buyers with multiple sales people in real-time, dispelling the need to travel from dealership to dealership to find the best deal. The best part: it’s completely free.

“When you shop through Carmigo, you build your car online, choose which dealerships you would like to engage with and then salespeople from the selected dealerships will work with you to help you find the best price,” says Michael O’Connor, CEO at Carmigo.

Research House conducted a poll of a national sample of 500 Canadian adults who have bought or leased a new or used vehicle in the past two years or who expect to buy or lease a new or used vehicle in the next two years. The results show the current car buying process can be so agonizing for car buyers that 74 per cent say it makes them want to delay or put off shopping for a car. Researching can also take up a lot of time; 43 per cent of buyers say they spend 10 hours or more to find the car they’re looking for.

Since we all know that time is money, Carmigo acts as the middleman between sales people and car buyers to save as much time as possible. Their process begins when the buyer designs the new or used car of your dreams on their website. After selecting a model, buyers can choose their preferred engine, transmission, colours and trim level. Carmigo also searches your area for dealerships once the buyer enters their city or postal code. Additionally, there is an option to enter a description (in case Carmigo didn’t have a particular feature you’re looking for) and in a click of a button, the conversations finally begin.

“We think of Carmigo as your car buyer’s best friend as it improves the car shopping experience by saving customers both time and money,” says O’Connor. “Car buyers are already going online to research their car – what we are doing is providing a social communication platform to give buyers control over the car shopping process. Dealers also benefit from Carmigo, as our data shows that after customers connect with a dealer on Carmigo, in-store visits result in sales more than 90 per cent of the time.”

Using Carmigo’s instant chat, buyers can speak with salespeople without divulging their personal information. Plus, since salespeople know that Carmigo buyers are engaging with more than one dealership to negotiate the best deal, they are more inclined to put their best foot forward. This is especially useful for buyers, as 59 per cent say negotiating with salespeople to get the best price seems to be the most stressful part of buying a car. This was followed by the pressure to buy additional services (50 per cent), having to buy the car on the spot and having to visit multiple dealers (both at 47 per cent). With Carmigo, once the buyer is satisfied with a particular dealership’s offer, the buyer may set up a time and date to view the car in person with the salesperson and, once satisfied, close the sale.

Canadians can register for free at Carmigo.com or download the app. The Carmigo app is available for iPhone and iPad  and the Android app will soon be available in the Google Play store.
