With just under a month to go before the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, Infiniti has released some images of their Vision Gran Turismo design challenge. Infiniti’s concept is part of a year-long commemoration for the video game Gran Turismo 6 for Sony PlayStation 3. The ‘Vision Gran Turismo concept challenge” is a year-long contest to commemorate the video games 15th anniversary. Automakers like Aston Martin, BMW, Subaru, and Volkswagen have all created outlandish designs that try to explore just what an automaker is capable of. Although most of these concepts are meant for virtual racing; some automakers have built real-life versions.
Although more details are still yet to come, Infiniti’s design seems to be a coupe that gets its design language from the recent Q80 inspiration concept. The prominent, bulging vented hood flows well with the fastback-like design, but with no rear window. Like the Q80, the rear is pointy, with thin taillights. Also rounding out the rear end is a boomerang spoiler. In true racing fashion, the side mirrors are not mirrors at all, they appear as if they could be cameras. Although there is no official news of whether or not Infiniti will bring this car to the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, we certainly hope they decide to. The design language illustrates Infiniti’s capabilities to bring about pure awesomeness.
