Ford is bridging the gap between the track-prepped GTD halo car and the phenomenal-as-long-as-it’s-manual Dark Horse with the new — and supercharged — 2026 Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC.

We’re hardly strangers to the idea of a souped-up Mustang from the factory, but Ford has taken a different, decidedly Shelby-less approach with this current S650-generation ‘Stang. Think of the 2026 Mustang Dark Horse SC as picking up where the GT500 left off.

The “SC” the 5.2-litre supercharged V8 engine under the hood. It’s the same “Predator” V8 from the GTD and previous-gen GT500, but Ford is staying tight-lipped on exact output and the differences between this version of the Predator, and the other two. Safe to say between Ford calling this its most powerful Dark Horse, and the last GT500 rated at 760 ponies, the SC’s power figure will probably start with a seven.

The Mustang Dark Horse SC’s supercharged V8 works with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Ford is again tight-lipped on the specifics, but confirmed it’s a modified version of the GT500’s gearbox with a carbon fibre driveshaft, which now gets its own cooler and upgraded half-shafts.

Ford keeps the Mustang Dark Horse SC’s shiny side up with numerous suspension upgrades over the standard Dark Horse. Magnetic dampers paired to firmer springs, revised sway bars, front control arms, and front and rear knuckles are all standard. Most of the suspension bits are made out of forged aluminum instead of steel, there’s a magnesium strut tower brace as well, and the SC’s front track is slightly wider than the standard Dark Horse. Brembo brakes all around reign the party in, and a stability control system that lets you choose between five levels of intervention (when in Track mode) is also standard.

Like the GT500, Ford is offering a Track Pack once again. The 20-by-11.5-inch carbon fibre wheels return, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup R tires. The magnetic dampers are also tuned differently, the standard Brembo brakes are swapped out for carbon-ceramics from the GTD, and the carbon fibre ducktail-and-wing as part of this package generates an extra 620 pounds of downforce without impacting rear visibility as much as before. Oh, and it saves about 150 pounds overall.

The Dark Horse SC wears much more aggressive styling inside and out. The extra vents add to the visual drama and are functional, you can spec the Recaros we all know and love and a rear-seat delete via the Track Pack, and the flat-bottom steering wheel is plucked out of the GTD. Ford is offering a Track Pack Special Edition for the Dark Horse SC’s first year on the market; it’s mostly a cosmetics pack, but you also get the GTD’s 3D-printed titanium interior trim.

If you’re waiting on Ford to say how much horsepower you’ll get before putting your name down, don’t wait too long. Order books for the 2026 Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC open in March, and they should start landing at dealers this summer.
