Jeep just dropped a sneak peek at the next-generation Cherokee, returning later this year as a 2026 model with hybrid power.
And at this point in time, that’s pretty much all we know. Jeep is tight-lipped with the exact details, but were generous enough to offer a full look at the “reimagined from the ground up” Cherokee’s new sheet metal. It trades its predecessor’s blob-on-wheels styling for a blocky, squared-off look that’s simultaneously more in-keeping with the rest of the Jeep brand, and a more faithful callback to the original Cherokee. Oh, and you’ll definitely be able to get this new Cherokee in blue and dark grey.
We also don’t yet know the nitty-gritty of the 2026 Cherokee’s hybrid powertrain, but imbuing it with some sort of electrification is certainly the right call. Heck, with key competitors like the redesigned Toyota RAV4 going hybrid-only, Jeep would be remiss not to go hybrid in some way. We wouldn’t be surprised to see some variant of their conventional hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrains currently offered in Europe, albeit with a more powerful gas engine swapped in.
Jeep says that, as before, the 2026 Cherokee will slot between the Compass and Grand Cherokee when it goes on sale this fall. Expect full pricing, details, and specs before then.
