Not to let the Kia EV9 have its cake and eat it, too, Hyundai has revealed the all-electric, three-row 2026 Ioniq 9 will start at a hair under $60,000 in Canada.
Ahead of its arrival in dealers next month, Hyundai announced the Ioniq 9 will start at $59,999 for the entry-level Preferred trim. That buys you a 111 kWh battery pack—OK, to be fair, that’s standard across the lineup—as well as a single, 160 kW rear-mounted electric motor. This setup is the least powerful in the lineup, rated at just 215 horsepower, but Hyundai quotes the biggest range estimate here, at up to 539 kilometres.
Moving up the trim ladder, the Preferred AWD adds a second, slightly less powerful 70 kW electric motor up front. This is good for a bump to 303 horsepower and a range estimate of 515 km. If you’d rather a more powerful motor for the front axle, the Preferred AWD+ swaps it for a 160 kW unit, bumping output to 422 horsepower in exchange for slightly lower 500-kilometre range estimate. Both these trims will run you an identical $64,999.
The all-wheel-drive Ioniq 9 with Luxury package is the next step up. It retains the same powertrain setup as the non-plus Preferred trim but throws a number of additional bells and whistles—for a sizeable bump to the tune of $76,499. At the top of the Ioniq 9 lineup is the $81,499 Ultimate Calligraphy trim, combining the meaty power numbers and respectable range of the Preferred+ trim with even more bells and whistles.
By comparison, the closely related Kia EV9 covers a nearly identical price spread, starting at $59,995 and running up to $79,495 for the GT-Line trim—though we wouldn’t be surprised if the upcoming EV9 GT will push the $85,000 mark.
