The All New C-Class What a looker!
Since the introduction of the current generation Mercedes C-class in 2007, the company has seen a tremendous boost in sales of the baby Benz. The new design language mimicked the look for the top of the line S-class and as time has demonstrated proved to be exceptionally popular among the masses. For the 2015 model year however, the baby Benz went under the knife and emerged as a completely redesigned model. The moniker “baby Benz” no longer applies (probably in part because the CLA has usurped that title) as the 2015 C-class now exudes a much more mature presence.
The new model, now even more liken to the S-class will be larger and wider than the out going model. Despite the size increase, the new model will be a good 220 pounds lighter, cutting fuel consumption by a fifth without sacrificing an ounce of performance. Speaking of which, Mercedes will offer the C-class initially with two power plants. As with all new cars these days, force induction seems to be a standard as the base C300 will come with a turbocharged 4 cylinder offering 235 hp and 273 pound feet of torque. Meanwhile, the higher end C400 will come with a 3.0 litre V6 pushing out 329 hp and 354 pound feet of torque. Both get the power to the wheels via a 7 speed automatic and are four wheel drive.
The interior gets a rework too with a center console and A/C vents reminiscent of the CLA. The 2015 C-class will come with a number of refinements to further the ride including an option for air suspension as well as a sound system that incorporates the natural resonance of the vehicle’s body structure.
Pricing and Launch date are still kept under wraps but it shouldn’t be too long before Mercedes announces all the details.
