Mercedes to cut production of the SLS!? Already!?Oh SLS AMG! We barely knew ye
Next week is the LA Auto show and according to the German publication Auto Motor and Sport Merecedes-Benz will unveil the (hopefully tentatively named) SLS AMG Final Edition. Final Edition you say? Why yes, the so aptly named AMG SLS Final Edition will be the send-off to the much loved (at least more so than the McLaren SLR) sports car.
Word is mum about the details regarding the Final Edition, but rumor has it that there will be a mild spec bump to the beautiful normally aspirated 538hp M159 V8 engine along with a reworked front fascia and the addition of rear diffusers. The article says that there’s a likely chance that the interior will get a small touch up (re: lots of Final Edition badges) as well.
In lieu of the world’s recent green zeitgeist, major manufacturers’ offerings have all included forced induction as an effort to increase efficiency and keep the somewhat green conscious enthusiast happy. As such, the likely contender for the SLS replacement will be the Mercedes GT AMG powered by a new 4.0 liter twin turbo V8.
