McLaren is aiming for higher numbers by making a new sports car with a more affordable cost.
McLaren has announced details about their new sports car. Named the P13, it will be just under the MP4-12C. McLaren is hoping for higher sales with the newest addition. The P13 will be competing with cars like the Porsche 911 and, like the MP4-12C, will be built on a lightweight carbon fiber platform, which will make the P13 lighter than the competitors.
It will be powered by a twin-turbo 3.8-litre V8 that can generate about 450 to 500 horsepower. The power will be going to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. That means the P13 can go from 0 to about 96 kilometres per hour in less than four seconds and reach a top speed of nearly 300km/h.
The P13 will make its debut at the Geneva auto show next year and will go on sale soon after, starting with the 2015 model.
