Celebrating A Partnership Of Luxury Jaeger-LeCoultre and Aston Martin, both iconic brands known for their dedication to performance and innovation, have steadily increased their ties in their Research and Development departments over the years, resulting in a number of important patents and technologies.
To celebrate a partnership that has spanned almost 10 years, two world-renowned companies are once again paying tribute to their shared values and attitudes towards their respective fields -watchmaking and sports cars- through the creation of three original new timepieces.
Jaeger-LeCoultre and Aston Martin, both iconic brands known for their dedication to performance and innovation, have steadily increased their ties in their Research and Development departments over the years, resulting in a number of important patents and technologies. Notable technologies include the transponder composed of a micro-transmitter, built into a timepiece and controlling the central locking system of cars; and the vertical-trigger chronograph, designed to emulate the luxury-veneer of driving an Aston Martin.
The three new timepieces unveiled by Jaeger-Coultre and Aston Martin, called the Master Compressor Extreme W-Alarm Aston Martin watch, Master Hometime Aston Martin watch, and AMVOX5 World Chronograph Cermet watch, represent in Jager-LeCoultre CEO Jérôme Lambert’s words, “…a dynamic and enduring alliance based on the specific expertise of each company…”
Master Compressor Extreme W-Alarm Aston Martin watch
This watch boasts a world time display that enables readability at a glance of any time zone on the planet, as well as the ever useful alarm function which features a full and powerful sound. The innovative display combines playfulness with a sharp focus on clarity, and is composed of two juxtaposed discs appearing through a large window at 9 o’clock: the first is devoted to hours running from 1 to 12, and the second to quarter-hours.
The Master Compressor Extreme W-Alarm Aston Martin watch is powered by the automatic Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 912 featuring a blend of reliability and a durability that faces up to the most extreme conditions. The compression key further enhances the crown’s resistance to water and dust by over-compressing using one its four water-resistance gaskets. The sophisticated shock-absorbing case guarantees absolute precision in all circumstances, and the black dial bearing alternating red and white indications is adorned with a surface treatment reminiscent of the grill on Aston Martin cars.
The logo created by the British manufacturer is engraved on the case’s back. It is also featured in the special presentation box, equipped with a dedicated compartment to house the second strap that comes standard with the watch. Wearers can switch from alligator leather to rubber in one smooth move firmly securing the generous 46.3 mm- diameter titanium and stainless steel watch designed for experienced drivers.
Master Hometime Aston Martin watch
The new Aston Martin collection also includes this model, embodying Jaeger-LeCoultre’s spirit of innovation. Made to evoke the aerodynamic lines and innovative technical solutions of Aston Martin cars, this timepiece concept is a combination of simplicity and elegance. The Master Hometime Aston Martin is immediately recognizable by its structured black dial, and by its brushed, streamlined lugs, extending from its 40 mm-diameter steel case.
Featuring the collection’s characteristic colours: black, white and a hint of red, it is designed to instantly draw the eyes to the time display. To avoid any readability issues it is combined with a 24-hour counter occupying the upper part of the dial, while the lower part is devoted to the running seconds. The time indications are adjusted in one-hour increments, either forwards or backwards, in order to display local time immediately upon reaching a new destination. Powered by automatic Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 975H, both company signatures appear side by side at 3 o’clock.
AMVOX5 World Chronograph Cermet watch
Through the conception of its mechanism and the arrangement of the dial indications, the AMVOX5 World Chronograph Cermet strives for absolute readability and enables at-a-glance reading for its entire range of information. The central chronograph hand has two counters on either side of the vertical axis in order to count off the minutes and hours elapsed since the start of the measurement. The lower part of the dial is devoted to the operating indicator displaying the date aperture at its base. The inner bezel ring bears the city disc for the world time display designed for instant readings of each time zone. The dial centre is contains the hours and minutes hands, with all information made legible due to the arrangement of the Aston Martin colours: black, anthracite, white, and red. Designed to achieve high performance, it contains an automatic Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 752. Beating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, the movement is housed within a 44 mm-diameter case that is water-resistant to 5 bar and made from a revolutionary material, reinforced cermet.
Recently developed by research labs for high-powered race-car engines, reinforced cermet combines performance and shock resistance with extraordinary lightness. Jaeger-LeCoultre has secured exclusive use of this material in the watchmaking field.
The high-tech material is composed of an aluminium core and ceramic particles, covered with a 40 micron-thick protective ceramic coating.
