The Fastest Rover

The Fastest Rover

The fastest production Range Rover is now here and it’s called the Range Rover Sport SVR. Its name might be a mouthful, but it pales in comparison to the mouthful of performance numbers this range will have you discussing. 542 break Horsepower with 502lb ft of torque equates to a top speed of 162mph (260 km/h) and a 0-100km/h time of approximately 4.7 seconds. These chart-toppers have definitely expanded the numerical range for Range Rover.

What do these numbers mean coming from a two-tonne high riding beast? Given that it was developed on the Nürburgring and produces Lexus IS-F and Mercedes C63 AMG like laps, one may suspect it to be a rough ride. We’ll just have to wait and see if Range Rover luxury was sacrificed to make this track-focussed SUV. Nonetheless, the pure driving experience shouldn’t be in question. The 5.0L supercharged V8 from the F-type R mated to a ZF eight-speed automatic is more than you can ask for.

With that setup working diligently at the command of the right pedal, the left pedal does its share courtesy of six-piston Brembo brakes. Furthermore, with the step-up from ‘Sport’ to ‘SVR’ you get a two-stage active exhaust, a spoiler, 22in alloys, quad pipes, and some decorative SVR badges. This Range Rover may check off a wide range of boxes in Land Rover’s requirements, but it’s heart truly lies in being a driver’s SUV.
