Is the electric version of one of the class leaders just as good?I had a meeting in a different city during the week that was 40km one way and I decided to take my decade-old Honda Civic rather than to risk getting stranded.

Can actual fun truly be had in a 100hp hatch? I absolutely adore this little car. In fact, I’ll go as far as to say it’s certainly my current favourite in the subcompact segment.

Is the Hybrid model of one of our favourites just as good?Although the ES300h isn’t the nimble sports sedan I’m used to, I’m happy to say the ES300h still meets that high standard. You see, it’s a car built for comfort, and nothing else. It sort of does everything for you, without you knowing, whether or not you like it.

Though tuned for efficiency, the 2.5i Legacy is definitely inferior to its 3.6 siblingThe 4-cylinder Legacy faces tough competition; it’s up against the likes of best-sellers like the Toyota Camry, the Honda Accord, the Nissan Altima, and the Ford Fusion. I figured with how good the rest of the cars in its class are, it couldn’t be too bad.

The Neon came in saying “hi”. The Dart just came in saying “yo”. First off, it’s no secret that the Dart’s name pays homage to an American classic. However, while driving around in the Dart, I couldn’t help but feel that rather than driving a Dart, I was driving around in a modernized, much improved Neon. It lacks the blocky, monotonous styling of the Caliber and brings back the rounded lines of the car that came in saying “hi”.

The Impreza Outback is all grown up! Borrowing queues from its Subaru siblings, the XV Crosstrek boasts an athletic look. I believe Subaru’s been pretty spot-on with the styling of their recent cars. The front end is handsome but conservative, so it probably won’t look very aged 10 years down the line. The raised ride height, flared fenders, 17” black and chrome accented wheels sets it apart completely from the Impreza.
