"Canadian Motor Speedway" Construction UnderwayCanada to get new $400 million racetrack near the Fort Erie, ON region. Potentially inviting numerous racing series to the country.
Fort Erie, ON will soon be seen the arrival of a new racetrack in their backyard. The $400 million Canadian Motor Speedway project is now under construction. After much debate and many years of political and economic discussion, financing and permitting has been approved for the 1.6 KM oval track. The track will also feature a 4 KM. The highlight however will be the massive 1 mile (1.6 KM) oval track which could lead to the development of a NASCAR event in Canada in the coming years. The Oval track will also feature a 65,000 person seating capacity, begging the question; which race series could we see signing on to make the Canadian Motor Speedway a part of their tour.
The entire development includes over 823 acres of land. The area will include vast spaces for Parking and camping, huge grandstands for spectators, numerous commercial facilities and several lots of the automotive competitors’ garages. Along with that, there are plans for a concert stage, a outdoor hockey arena and more. Canada already hosts the Formula1 Montreal GP every year (in Montreal, as the name suggests), with the development of the Canadian Motor Speedway, we could see Canada’s foray into numerous other racing series.
The project is being led by developer Azhar Mohammad along with his “entire team and [his] partners in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.”
