Power and Price Rise Together for the New Cadillac CTS Redesigned for 2014 model year, Cadillac has promised its new CTS will be more powerful, stylish and luxurious than its predecessor- but the new features will come at a price.

Redesigned for 2014 model year, Cadillac has promised its new CTS will be more powerful, stylish and luxurious than its predecessor- but the new features will come at a price. With a starting price of $46,025 (including $925 for destination), the new model is up more than $7,000 compared to the 2013 model, funds that will allow the vehicle to more adequately take on competitors like the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes E-Class which start closer to $50,000.

Optional trim levels for the model (called Collections) include Luxury, Performance, and Premium, and offer either a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder, or a 3.6-liter V6 engine. Additional choices include rear or all-wheel-drive configurations.

For those looking for a further performance factor, the new CTS Vsport model may be your answer. 420-horsepower puts it ahead of both the BMW 550i and Mercedes E550, and at an asking price of $59,995 it’s still about $2,000 below the cost of its competitors.

No word yet on the CTS-V sedan, but if Cadillac stays on the same track we’re likely to see price and power rise significantly.
