Costing approximately $81,300 USD, BMW’s 740i is powered by a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder gasoline engine, producing 320 horsepower. If you’re looking for more power, the 750i xDrive offers a 4.4-litre V-8  twin turbo engine, producing 445 hp. The 750i costs over $16,000 more than the 740i at $97,400 USD.

The 740e, the 7’s hybrid option, has a 2.0-litre engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology. The power for the electric motor comes from a lithium-ion high-voltage battery housed underneath the rear seat and can travel about 37 kilometres on all-electric power at up to 120 kph.

If you’re worried about weight, fret no more. Although its dimensions are similar to its predecessor, BMW says the 4-door sedan is 190 pounds lighter thanks to the use of Carbon Core passenger cell technology. This kind of body design allows the vehicle to be lighter while also increasing the strength and rigidity of the passenger cell.
