BMW 2-Series To Debut In Just 2 Days (Oct 25th, '13)The 1-Series has been with us for more than a decade, however, BMW will be debuting it's successor to the awesome sports car in just 2 days.
Yesterday we reported that BMW is shutting down production of the 1-Series platform (coupe and convertible) due to the potential release of its successor; the spied 2-Series. Now, Autoblog has officially confirmed that the 2-Series is going ahead and will be the successor to the 1-Series. What’s more? There are pictures aplenty of the spied 2-Series tester.
The new 2-Series definitely has a few more curves than the outgoing 1-Series it replaces.
The 2-Series platform’s lower end vehicles will include the 220i with a 2 Liter inline 4-cylinder motor. More importantly, BMW plans to put out a M235i with its classic 3.0 liter straight-six engine putting out 320 horsepower. Autoblog also mentions that this car will do 0-62 MPH in just 4.8 seconds!
In terms of dimensions, the new 2-Series will feature a longer wheelbase by about two inches and will also be about an inch wider than the outgoing 1-Series. The spy shots show a more swoopy looking 2-Series when compared to the outgoing 1-Series. The interior also seems to take several cues from the cure lineup; including the current 3-Series and 5-Series sedans.
It’s clear that the 2-Series is seeing a more updated interior.
Can’t wait to see the official debut of this seemingly awesome car? Well, you don’t really have to, Autoblog confirmed that BMW will be releasing it in just two days, on October 25th! Until then, check out the teaser video below.
