Formula One News

Here are the latest Headlines and also Rumors in the World of Formula 1!

Michael SCHUMACHER returns to the cockpit! Subbing for injured and still recovering Felipe Massa. This bears watching as Michael surely has lost nothing to today’s crop of youngsters and has been racing some GP bikes recently as well. That takes superb physical conditioning and Michael has set some impressive lap times. Michael is also great at setting up his own F1 car and this might be great for FERRARI to learn a thing or two for the remainder of the season.

BMW has QUIT F1! Shocking in that it all happened so soon, but surprising NO! Too bad since BMW is such a performance oriented company claiming that these resources will instead be used to explore newer drive mechanisms and power sources, or something like that. I think that they are hiding their potentially sour financial condition and a total lack of results this season to the point of embarrassment. F1 helps breed better engineers under fire and this has served them as well as Honda very well.

Can SAUBER be saved? It is also unfortunate for the staff working there as this certainly comes at a bad time. The FIA has pledged to help save them, but they are still swimming in their own problems as of late so they need to get their own house in order first.

Does this OPEN the door to another new team? And of course, WHO shall that new team be? If it were up-to-me, the choice would be LOLA! Although they have stopped all work on their 2010 grand prix challenger, I believe that a true motorsports company like LOLA belongs in F1, like DALLARA as well and they too are coming with Campos in 2010.

Is Piquet Jr. finished at RENAULT? Probably, as bad-mouthing your employer is truly burning bridges that can’t be mended easily. Face it Piquet Sr., junior could not even carry Alonso’s gloves this season, not even close! That does not make him the next heir apparent!

BTW, BMW says NO to provide even their engines to prospective F1 teams next year. So much for the dialog recently from Dr. Thiessen who said that BMW would happily supply a customer team! Earth to BMW…if you are not playing in the major leagues, then you are not a major leaguer anymore!

CONCORDE agreement? Will it indeed get signed by ALL of the teams? We can suppose that is why BMW has abruptly decided to quit now, so they do NOT have to commit to F1 through 2012!

Will another manufacturer QUIT before that Concorde agreement does gets signed? Rumors persist that TOYOTA will also throw in the towel shortly, for what better justification is there if another giant has just done so as well. They of course deny it, but that is expected until the moment they make that kind of announcement.
