Toyota has released a teaser image showing the back end of its hybrid version of the RAV4.

Although an electrified version of the RAV4 (the EV) is already available, the eco-friendly option has a hefty price tag of about $49,000 USD. This hybrid package will cost more than the RAV4’s base model, but presumably $20,000 cheaper than the RAV4 EV.

More details about the hybrid compact crossover are foggy, however previous reports hint at a power train borrowed from the Camry Hybrid. If so, the hybrid will have a 2.5 litre Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine with an electric motor, which will give the vehicle about 200 horsepower.

More details will be disclosed at this year’s New York International Auto Show which runs April 3-12.
