Although the news of the 2016 CTS-V is a few days old, we have new video illustrating the sound this beast eminates from its tailpipes. A little bit of background for those that did not hear; the 2016 CTS-V was debuted this past Monday, ahead of next months Detroit Auto Show. The CTS-V is mainly aimed towards other sport sedans such as the BMW M3 and M5, as well as the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG.

In the horsepower department, the CTS-V is no joke; expected to produce 640 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 630 lb-ft. of torque at 3,600 rpms thanks to the monstrous supercharged 6.2-liter V8 mill. Sourced from the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 this V8 should propel the CTS-V from 0-62 mph in 3.7 seconds. Power is sent to the rear wheels only via an eight-speed automatic transmission that can be controlled through the shift paddles and an electronic limited-slip differential. The eight-speed automatic and the rear wheel drive only options though, while good, may give purists some dismay. Why will the CTS-V not have a manual? Will all that power going to the rear wheels on such a big sedan give the CTS-V stability issues?

Visually, the CTS-V will stand out from other members of the CTS lineup, and rightfully so. Thanks to a large air dam, front splitter, and a powerdome hood made out of carbon fibre. The interior will also get leather Recaro bucket seats, a wireless phone charger and of course, Cadillac’s CUE infotainment system.

The 2016 Cadillac CTS-V is scheduled to land on dealer lots late next summer. Pricing is still to be announced.
