Imagine you’re in the market for a new vehicle and you walk in to a Honda dealership. The Fit has an attractive fuel economy rating, but go camping with it and youdon’t have enough room to take all your essentials. This predicament leaves you with the CR-V as the next logical choice, but that’s too big, you aren’t the SUV driving type. Thankfully for you, Honda is answering to the hatchback / small SUV niche with the Honda H-RV.

Based on Honda’s released information the HR-V seems to share attributes with the Japanese model, Vezel. The name and appearance would have most North Americans relating it to a smaller CR-V. However, a purist may look at the power train to draw their conclusion. Current news reports a likely Inline-4 1.5L engine coupled with CVT transmission giving costumers a options of FWD or AWD variants. Alike the Fit, a 6-speed manual transmission could be an option, helping to upkeep the sportiness of this vehicle. This knowledge inclines one to look at the HR-V as more of a “lifted” Honda Fit.

All intra-company comparisons aside, this boils down to a quite attractive compact SUV. The body lines are not to bold or loud because that’s not what the HR-V is about. It about being the solution to all your auto needs: passenger room, storage space, economical drive and a safe comfortable SUV feel. This kind of balance amongst customer needs is not news, the HR-V is just a newcomer and will face stiff competition from most other car-makers.
